ISRAEL WITH EMMA KALFUS

NAME: Emma Kalfus
WHAT DO YOU DO: Stylist and Founder of Side-Note
SOCIALS: @emma_kalfus & @side_note
STAR SIGN: Gemini
LIVING: Sydney, Australia
SLEEP
Tel Aviv
The Montefiori, The Norman, Market House in Jaffa.
The whole city is buzzing but the special thing about the Montefiori is how small and boutique it is. If you can’t stay there, at least go for breakfast.
Neve Tzedek (An Airbnb here is a great option!)
EAT
The market ‘shuk’ in Jerusalem is the OG. It is called Machne Yehuda and 100% worth visiting. Endless good restaurants and cafés.
My fave restaurants include: Herzl 16 by Rothschild 12, HaSalon, Romano, Brasserie (24hrs), Port Said.
Cafes: Dellal and Dellal Bakery, Delicatessen, Goj and Daniel (out of city but worth the trip), Machne Yehuda in Jerusalem
Eat anything in season. The Israeli’s can seriously make fresh produce and vegetables sensational. Try Jerusalem artichoke everything, all the cauliflower dishes and of course their shakshuka.
DO
See a show at the Susan Dellal Centre (contemporary dance like I’d never seen before).

Day trip to the Dead Sea and walks to Ein Gedi, day trip or overnighter to Jerusalem, Jerusalem Museum and Art Gallery (both in same location) beach, eat, eat, eat, drink, eat.
SHOP
The Jaffa Flea Market is good for trinkets and antiques and vintage fashion if you are happy to sift through.

PACK
Go in summer and just pack swimsuits, dresses, hats and sandals. Nothing else.
