MALLORCA WITH DOLLI TAYLOR

NAME: Dolli Taylor
WHAT YOU DO: I am the Founder & Director of SPEAR, a global creative, communications and talent management agency and the curator of trobat (launching May 2020). My vision is to take new guard creatives and nurture them into success stories.
STAR SIGN: Pisces, though I don’t have all the typical traits.
SOCIALS: @dollitaylor + @thespearagency + @trobat
LIVING: I live in sunny Mallorca, one of Spain’s Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. I am in the North East right by Sa Font De Sa Cala beach. The main town nearby is Capdepera.
LOCATION: This will be a locals’ guide to Mallorca! I have only lived here 8 months but that classifies me as a local right?
SLEEP
There are many wonderful places to rest your head at night.
If you are wanting a city / cultural experience then I recommend you stay in or near Palma. This is Mallorca’s CBD and not too far from the airport. It has fantastic restaurants, galleries, bars, shopping and more. If this is more your vibe, then try any of these:

If you are wanting to kick back, relax, enjoy the beach and experience Mallorca’s beauty I highly recommend Hotel Creu De Tau in Capdepera (also their restaurant Cova Negra, the wagyu tacos omggg). It is very close to some of Mallorca’s most beautiful beaches - Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida.

I would avoid staying in areas such as Silot, Sa Coma, Cala Millor as it is super touristy and the hotels are all inclusive stays (I just shuddered).
If you are a large group then definitely go a villa, its better bang for your buck. Mr & Mrs Smith have some great luxury villas. If you want something a little more earthy and rustic, then there are also some really lovely finca’s such as Casa Mana.
I am also dying to stay at Finca Serena.
EAT
Pretty much all I do is eat and drink with my friend Tita so my list is really long, but here are a few highlights!
You must have a long lunch at Ca's Patró March in Cala Deia followed by a swim and a siesta at the little beach next door. Make sure you book well in advance to secure a table. My boyfriend and I took his parents and my mum there and we had many laughs, lots of sunshine, great wine and some delicious seafood. Coming from me that’s a compliment as I don’t usually enjoy much seafood! Book via this number +34 971 63 91 37.

I love the markets in Santanyi (every Saturday) and Arta (every Tuesday). Also Santa Catalina Markets are awesome, and if you go there, definitely eat at Arume, it’s an Asian food stop. The sushi is to die for…. Try the foie gras with quince roll. The dim sums are also amazing.
If you want a fun night out with great music and Mexican food visit Chula Vista or El Aquanauta. The margarita’s are an 11 out of 10. I drowned in my own drool eating the tacos and they also did this really cool dip which was avocado and hummus, it works.
La Rosa for a mid-shopping pit stop.
Botanic for dinner or a drink in the courtyard.
I also love Tast in Palma for lunch or dinner and a cocktail bar El Patio de Gloria. The pisco sour and espresso martinis are divine.
DO
Day trips to: Valldemossa, Deia, Santanyi and I may regret telling people about this as it is a hidden gem…. But …. Take a drive to Betlem there is a secret beach you can only access by foot. After enjoy a long lunch at Ristorante Casablanca. Be sure to book.

For an incredible art and museum experience you cannot miss going to the Joan Miro Foundation. I lost days in there. Oh and take a little snack (or get something from their café) to enjoy in the garden amongst some of Miro’s amazing sculptures.

This is a random one but I really do recommend it as a must see – the caves in Porto Cristo. I cannot believe it is made by nature! I have been 3 times and I am still not bored of seeing it.
SHOP
Mallorca is full of incredible little boutiques and local artisanal products. Though you need to infiltrate the locals or go so very deep on instagram in order to find them! Marketing isn’t a top priority here. So here are a few of the local loves of my lives!

These are the products and places I am a little bit obsessed with: Oma Project, Pintoresq, mimar, Arquinesia Perfumes, sunvibes.

I also love to go to Vidrieras Gordiola in Algaida, it’s a Museum exhibiting the art of glassblowing in a castle-style space. I have 6 hand blown glasses from there, costing a small fortune, I am surprised I let us drink out of them.
PACK
The humidity is insane here and our Summer is HOT, I feel much more than Australia. I was coming from winter and I moved here in the heart of the Mallorcan Summer, it was as huge shock. I was basically a sweaty hot mess for the first few months (I should take a moment to thank my boyfriend for not leaving me through this acclimatisation period – thanks, love you).

I am now adjusted and can pass on my wisdom - if you are coming in summer I highly recommend light weight linen or cotton that breathes. Avoid silks or anything that shows sweat easily (so not a chic look). You also need swimmers, a big sun hut, sunnies, sandals, walking shoes / workout gear, a cross body bag and floaty sundresses. Don’t overpack as there are so many great local artisanal products, so you will probably want to keep some room in your suitcase to take a few things back with you!
