SLEEP
My best friend lives in Navigli so I always stay there. I love the way this area changes throughout the day…super chilled in the morning (except on Sundays when the market is on) and bustling at night with locals and tourists.
The area is renowned for loft-style apartments, cafes and random bars.
EAT
My favourite new place on this trip is the LùBar on Via Palestro. Great Sicilian food and an amazing space. For a really modern take on Italian food, try Pastamadre.

The tuna and mozzarella work together here over handmade pasta! If you’re after an old school traditional place book a table at Restaurant Lucca – especially if its mushroom season and you’re into mushrooms.

I love Café Lissi for breakfast, another quirky old school place, with the best service, best coffees and pastries ever.
DO
I always pop into the Prada Foundation and also the Pirelli Foundation regardless of what exhibitions are on, the spaces are inspiring to check out and there’s always something great on.

If you’ve seen the movie “I Am Love” there’s a tour of Villa Necchi Campiglio, where it was shot. Run by the National Trust of Ital, it’s a great introduction in Milanese Modern history.

I’d also make time to visit Leonardo Da Vinci’s newly replanted vineyard from the 15th century – it’s just across the street from where The Last Supper hangs.

Another great area is Cascina Cuccagna, and old converted farmhouse in the centre of Milan. Have lunch at Un Posto, especially great if you’re vegetarian.
SHOP
Although Corso Como isn’t the same without Carla Sozzani I’d recommend a visit if you’ve never been. Lots to see and places to go in the area and the physical space is delightful.
The Italian designers Laura Urbinati and Luisa Beccaria are worlds apart, but both stores are typically Milanase and quite unique compared with to the usual suspects you see in the area around Via Monte Napoleone.

If you’re into design check out Rossana Orlandi,
especially if you happen to be in Milan during Design Week and also gallerialuisadellepiane.it. And the BDDW in Milan is totally inspirational just like their store in Nolita.
And then there’s the Santa Maria Novella store for all fragrant. You may have come across the alcohol free Rose Water .. an old time favourite.
